„Can I please pause my membership next week?“- Even at your own funeral, someone is going to ask you to freeze their contract. The joke in this video is funny because it is painfully accurate. For most gym owners, the work literally never stops. But if your staff has to ask you how to clean a spilled protein shake or where the timer remote is, you do not actually have a team. You have a group of helpers waiting for instructions. You did not start a fitness business to be the only person on earth who knows the WiFi password or how to deal with a Wodify update. Stepping out of the daily chaos is a question of leadership. You have to stop playing the hero and start empowering the people around you. It can be as simple as redirecting. The next time a client walks up to you with an admin issue, just smile and say, „Go ask Tom at the front desk, he can completely sort out your membership for you.“ And then actually let Tom handle it. As for the member trying to pause their contract while you are in a casket? Build a clear policy, automate the request form, and train your staff to enforce it so that question never even reaches your desk. You need permission to step back and let your systems work.
